According to Donald E. Westlake’s novel, the actor finds Paul Cole (André Holland), arrested in a mysterious small town that has no memory of what he is or how he entered. With no sense of identity or objective, he starts from scratch and begins to create the local costume Edna (Gemma Chan). When his previous pieces and pieces appear gradually, he tries to find his way home, but time is slippery, programs cannot be reliable and it is unclear which of his identities is real.
